This course will teach fundamental skills to enable you to deal with work stress, overcome worry by understanding why your mind reacts to problems and difficulties in certain ways, and share coping mechanisms and strategies to harden yourself against stress and worry.
Examining the causes and triggers of stress, it looks at brain chemistry and the effect of stress on the endocrine (hormone) system, and how different areas of the brain (including the 'animal' brain) play their own part in the stress reaction. It teaches several tools, including affirmations, physical repetition behaviours, positive displacement visioning, the internal stress battery and the effects of good sleep (and how to achieve it).
Militarise Your Mind examines the role of serotonin and gives clear advice on how to maintain its level - and prevent its depletion. It looks at the role of the environment on our stress, and how to improve our immediate personal environment. The course also touches on the positive effects of diet, fitness and meditation.
Identifying negative behaviour patterns and minimising their power and hold over us, the course then goes on to identify the different types of personalities, and explains how to handle people with different needs and default reactions based on their overall personality identifiers.
The course also provides insight into future planning, problem-solving, handling multiple problems at once, activating personal action, and also a cognitive behavioural therapy technique for monitoring moods and positive outlook.
