If you're a writer interested in psychology, who'd like to nurture calm and creative focus in your writing, then this course is ideal for you.
10 mindful writing exercises which you can do to fit in with your own schedule, will help you develop your writing technique and manage yourself as a writer, more effectively. The content is designed for fiction, non-fiction and journalist writers, with examples from various genres. You're welcome to send your exercises over to me for 1-2-1 feedback and encouragement, and if you're flagging or unclear about something, then I love to help.
This course was co-created with writing students during lockdown, with lesson themes inspired by needs and priorities voiced by students during this challenging time. I had often thought of creating a writing-with-psychology course and once embarked on, student responses were most encouraging and thanks to you for these.
We start by exploring lists in writing, then big picture focus, writing about change, and using the senses. We go on to explore habit, sense of place, roles of a writer, motivation and story. Each lesson has a practical exercise which you can complete in the course workbook.
The course is created from an appreciation that if we feel buffeted by events, unsettled by relentless grim news and worried about our personal circumstances, then writing may be a challenge. It aims to restore a sense of control to your writing, and give you mindful writing techniques which you can call on as and when you need.
