Learning to write an essay for a college entrance exam can be nerve-wracking because it's difficult to know what the expectations of the test-maker are. The essay is a 50-minute test that will require you to write about how an author conveys their argument in a reading passage. Our course will enable you to unlock higher scores on the Essay Test by helping you understand what the College Board's expectations are for test takers.
Our formula for a great essay is a seven-step process that ensures you only focus on things that are necessary to score well. The course addresses all components of the essay writing process: from reading the provided passage, to understanding the timing for each component, to understanding the various techniques and literary devices authors and speakers use, to the writing of the words themselves. Nothing is left out! Students will also complete exercises, view examples, and receive our book on writing an exceptional, high-scoring essay. Some of the skills you’ve developed writing essays in the past will not come into play here. The new essay may more closely mirrors what you already do in your language arts classes, especially if you are taking AP English and Composition.
