We have designed our courses in the format of a football match, so you will have two matches (or lessons), and each match - like the real thing - will consist of:
Warm Up, First Half, Second Half and Extra Time sections. They will include a mixture of:
Fun football quizzes
Instructional videos
Newspaper articles
Grammar sheets
An assignment.
Each lesson will be based around one article, football topic and English grammar point, and is carefully designed to introduce you to and take you through the grammar point (for example Positive and Negative Comments) in a fun, football-based way.
This is how a match will line up:
Warm Up: there will be a fun quiz just to get you going, followed by a Vocab Building Video, and finishing with a quiz to test your vocabulary.
1st Half: Reading exercise using a newspaper article, then a True / False quiz followed be a multiple choice quiz to help you understand some of the more difficult / unusual / nuanced phrases.
Half Time: a quick break and relax.
2nd Half: Grammar Coach - A detailed description of the grammar point in the form of a document we have created, then two more fun quizzes to help you understand the principals and vocab.
Extra Time: This is where you will be asked to put into writing what you have learnt. For example, in the lesson on Arteta and Reported Speech you will be asked to create a press statement, responding to criticism.
The lesson will consist of two matches, therefore working on two grammar points. In this lessons the two matches (grammar points) are:
Reported Speech (working from an article about Mikel Arteta and his issues in 2020/21 as coach of Arsenal)
Continuous Forms (using an article about transfer rumours before the January 2021 transfer window).
Let's Kick Off!
