This course is a result of 25 years of project portfolio management experience, facilitation and participation in numerous project portfolio methodology implementation at various companies around the world. This course will introduce you to the basic concepts of project portfolio management and explain the main role of the scoring models in project prioritization and selection. You will learn how to properly pick the scoring variables, the danger of the “halo effect” and the importance of measurability. Furthermore, we will discuss project prioritization without and with strategic alignment. Finally, we will discuss the “joker concept”, the situation where a project gets a low score but management feels that it still needs to be implemented.
