Kinematics (1-D) for High School

Starting from the very basics, this course will build a strong foundation on kinematics in one-dimensional motion. It will then proceed to teach you how to solve different types of conceptual and numeric problems on 1-D kinematics.

Kinematics is the branch of mechanics concerned with the motion of objects without reference to the forces which cause the motion.

Mechanics is the branch of physics that deals with the action of forces on bodies and with motion.

Mechanics may be divided into three branches:

   Statics, which deals with forces acting on and in a body at rest;

   Kinematics, which describes the possible motions of a body or system of bodies; and

   Kinetics, which attempts to explain or predict the motion that will occur in a given situation.

You should realize that learning the important concepts of Kinematics clearly is the first step for a student desirous of learning Physics. Kinematics fall within the basic core concepts of Physics.

You should also realize that you will need this knowledge of kinematics to learn many other branches of Physics. The concepts of kinematics will be needed to solve different types of problems that fall under other branches of Physics.
