What better way to engage with a child than through the captivating medium of cinema?
We, at LXL Ideas, have developed a unique learning programme that uses film as the main medium to help kids explore topics that are relevant to them. Our award-winning films and activities help guide children to understand and implement important life skills and values in their daily lives.
In this film we will focus on the theme of Empathy for Parents.
As parents, there are times where you can struggle with your child being inconsiderate or stubborn without realising the effects of their actions on you. It is important for them to understand empathy from a young age, towards everybody around them, but especially towards their caregivers.
In this course, we will explore topics like:
Empathy, consideration and appreciation of parents
Sensitivity towards others
Responsibility in the home
This course is centred around the short film, 'Little Magician', in which when 10-year-old Kanika is torn between her wants and her mother’s needs, Kanika is unable to show empathy. ‘Little Magician’ was honoured with the President’s National Film Award for Best Film on Family Values in 2016.
The 20 minute film will be followed by interactive and engaging activities for the student to review and internalise the learning from the film. The course will also include additional resources and activities for the student, if they would like to participate more.
This course is fully in English and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.
