Life Through a Mathematician's Eyes

You will learn how mathematics explains natural phenomena, the inner-workings of the technology we use in our daily lives, and how it interacts with art. Concretely, at the end of the course, you will be able to explain why the Fibonacci numbers appear so commonly in nature, why rainbows always appear at an angle of 42 degrees and why kittens curl into a ball when sleeping; you will be able to prove the mathematics behind, or implement algorithmically, one technology we utilize in our daily lives, such as RSA encryption, artificial neural networks or quaternion rotation. Finally, you will have a confident understanding of the two-sided interaction between art and mathematics.
