Learn the Viola, Suzuki Book 1

Students in this course will learn how to play exercises #1-3 in the Suzuki Book #1 for Viola. Students will need to obtain and use their own copy of the Suzuki Book #1 for Viola. Prior to beginning this course, students should have a basic knowledge of how to hold the viola, the names of the strings on the viola and how to read music on the music staff, though these concepts will be reviewed in the course. Instruction will be taken at a slow pace with log of modeling and opportunities for students to practice their instrument alongside the instructor. Exercise #1- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, has been divided into 5 different instructional videos, one for the main theme, and four variations on the theme. Exercise #2 and Exercises #3 are each their own instructional video. Students are encouraged to practice their instrument at least 15 minutes per day, 5 days a week in order to make sufficient progress. Students are also encouraged to practice the exercises in numerical order, as the skills learned in the early exercises will be reinforced in the later exercises. Through this course, it is intended for students to begin building the foundation of proper viola performance skills and a love for performing music on the viola.
