This course begins with a discussion on different types of effects which are responsible for electron displacement in a molecule – Inductive, Mesomeric and Electromeric effects. Each of these have been explained in detail with relevant examples. The impact of these effects on various behavioural properties of molecules have been highlighted.
The next section of the course is based on acids and bases of organic nature. The general acid-base concepts (Arrhenius, Bronsted - Lowry and Lewis Concept) and their quantitative expression have been explained in the beginning. Later, the course primarily focuses on organic acids and bases, their properties and behaviour.
The course is supported by practice problems and NOTES (downloadable) at the end of each section.
