Intelligence Quotient contributes to only about 20% to success in life whereas emotional intelligence contributes to about 80% to success in life. Remember that you will be praised and recognized for your accomplishments by the managers. You must have a sense of achievement. Understand that there is a fruit of some sort in the job. Look at the growth and opportunities to motivate yourself to perform well and build resilience to pressures. You must hold yourself responsible for your work. Understand that work that is meaningful, interesting, and challenging will help you perform and feel motivated.

Motivation is the set of reasons that determines one to engage in a particular behavior. The term is generally used for human motivation but, theoretically, it can be used to describe the causes for animal behavior as well. According to various theories, motivation may be rooted in the basic need to minimize physical pain and maximize pleasure, or it may include specific needs such as eating and resting, or a desired object, hobby, goal, state of being, ideal, or it may be attributed to less-apparent reasons such as altruism, morality, or avoiding mortality.

You can use self awareness to build resilience to challenging times. Self Awareness means knowing one’s internal strengths, preferences, resources, and intuitions. ‘Emotional Self-awareness’ means reading one’s own emotions and recognizing their impact such as using a ‘gut-sense’ to guide decisions. It is one’s ability to be aware of one’s feelings and emotions, to be able to differentiate between them, to know what one is feeling and why, and to know what caused the feelings. It means recognizing one’s emotions and their effects.

‘Accurate Self-assessment’ means knowing about one’s strengths and limits. It means thriving on an open, honest, compassionate feedback about one’s strengths and limits. ‘Self-confidence’ is a strong and sound sense of one’s self worth and capabilities. It means believing in one’s capabilities.
