How to better understand your African clients

Welcome to understanding Africans and their descendants. In this course, we will be looking at some of the common African characteristics. We will consider some of their attitudes, behaviours, and actions that may be interesting and useful for people from other cultures to know as they try to relate with Africans.

This course discusses how to understand Africans and their descent better. It draws more on their worldview. It raises questions like 'how does their worldview influence their thinking and subsequently, their behaviour?'. Secondly, the course discusses Africans' religious foundations, as religion provides a foundation for all other aspects of African life and customs.

African culture is quite intense. It is a significant aspect of their life as a people. This course highlights the critical role culture plays in the life of the African. Finally, it illustrates the importance of community to Africans and how that shapes their interaction with people within and out-with their culture. Understanding these factors will enable those who work with them to develop the necessary skills to improve their working relationships with Africans.

At the end of this course, students will have acquired the skills to equip them to relate to Africans and African descents. These lectures are also designed to help Africans understand themselves better. It provides Africans and those connected to them the ability to improve their relationships with people of other cultures. There are practical discussions and examples to bring clarity to the lectures.
