Do you find yourself questioning your writing ability when typing emails at work? When answering the phone, should one say: a) "This is she." or b) "This is her." Which is correct?: a) "between my wife and I" or b) "between my wife and me". These are questions we should all know. But the reality is, we forget.
What is a noun, proper noun, collective noun, abstract noun, subject, object, predicate noun, the possessive case? In my experience, it is natural to forget the grammatical terms that we learned in school. There is no shame in not knowing what these terms mean. Knowing grammatical rules can help you with your emails and communication. It is also a great experience to be able to help your children by explaining the rules of grammar. We all must start with one term at a time, one rule at a time. I will cover all of these terms and more.
In this course I will present the simple grammatical terms first: 1) noun, 2) pronoun, 3) verb, 4) adjective, 5) adverb, 6) conjunction and 7) preposition. These are easily to learn and identify.
Once you can identify a noun, adjective, adverb, and so on, you can jump to the next level. The next level is to learn to identify the different kinds of nouns, verbs, adjectives, and their uses within sentences. Everyone can learn how to do this. Mastering grammar is just a matter of practice!
I will explain the grammatical terms slowly. I will give exercises that we cover together. Additional exercises are given so you can practice what you have learned. There are quizzes for each chapter so you can measure your learning.
This course is based on Walter Kay Smart's English Review Grammar.
