Everyone has a story inside of them that needs to be told! As documentary filmmakers we have the privilege of bringing real, authentic, and inspiring stories to life. It can be incredibly rewarding!
It can also comes with a cost.

It causes us to navigate a very technical world. Full of camera settings, color temperatures, composition, frame rates, etc.
At the same time, we’re thrown into an organic “on-the-fly” storytelling process.
Not to mention, we become responsible for managing relationships with real people throughout the production. From Clients, Featured Characters, Actors, Producers, Project Managers, Accountants, CEO’s, Administrative Assistants, Billing Departments, etc.
All while finding a way to make a living and spend time with the people we love.

So if you, like me, experience this same process as a filmmaker. Why do we willingly sign up for this?
Because the reality is, it’s a lot of work!

For me the answer is simple.
I don’t care how much work it takes because when I’m creating a film or telling story, it never feels like work!
The honest truth is, there are parts of the process that can feel incredibly hard at times.
However, there is a burning passion inside of us professional filmmakers. It forces us to push through those moments of difficulty for the possibility of making something that feels more like a movie than our last project.
It’s a passion that begs for us to grow. Because the story we are telling is too important. It has to be told.
