True YOUR Wheel: Diabetes Care for Medical Assistants

"Diabetes Care for Medical Assistants:  Better Care for Your Patients with Diabetes" is a course designed specifically for the Medical Assistant, with the opportunity for Continuing Education hour credit.

Every Medical Assistant (MA) encounters patients with Diabetes during the course of their day, especially in a Primary Care Office.  This course focuses on Type 2 Diabetes, but several topics apply to Type 1 Diabetes as well.  Learn about the different conditions with the word "Diabetes" in the diagnosis (there are 7!), the diagnostic criteria for Diabetes, interpreting various blood glucose ranges (including hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia) and understanding when it is an emergency, helpful tips in teaching your patients, and using glucose pattern management to improve care.  Several patient cases are used to illustrate the practical application of the materials.  If you are seeking Continuing Education hours, the course is recommended for 1.0 continuing education hours.  You will need to print the certificate and curriculum to provide to submit to your accrediting agency.
