The course covers the basics for understanding and engaging with different cultures from around the world. The different categories are described, with examples, giving students the opportunities to understand not only their own culture, but a culture of their choosing. It helps to not only understand differences, but gives a framework for dealing with those differences.
This particular course covers only the hot-cold paradigm of describing cultural differences, and is quite broad, without being unnecessarily over-detailed. It is a springboard from which to explore cultural differences, rather than a definitive exposition.
