You will learn the 'parent-child' principle when creating animation in After Effects

This is and 'end-to-end' tutorial in Adobe After Effects, from teaching you how to set up your work-space - Although this lesson is primarily about creating a 'stick-man' and animating him on a looped walk path.

I first recorded this tutorial some time ago, so the version of After Effects should not present a problem - if your chosen application has a 'parent-child' ability and 'moveable Anchor' (pivot) points, then you should be able to follow my lesson.

The simple 2D animation principle applied in this tutorial can also be used in other applications - such as Apple Motion. I initially prepared this lesson for a colleague as he [and others in the team] were doing this in Powerpoint... whereas After Effects and Motion are far more 'intuitive' with 2D animation.

For those new to After Effects, it can be quite daunting, so in this tutorial, I also cover the user interface and give you a number of tips and guides and demonstrate how you might 'keep your workflow' more manageable...

This lesson is in several (video) parts, so is quite comprehensive. At the end of the animation lesson, I will add a couple of videos to demonstrate the basics of placing the 'animated' character in front of various background (parallax) elements - i.e. the 'stick-man' character will appear to be walking, as the background elements 'pass by'...
