SQL Server Management Studio is the most common Graphical User Interface tool that we used to use for administrating our SQL Server instances that are located in our data center or hosted in the cloud. SSMS can be used also for developing our database projects, includes creating or modifying the database objects and viewing then modifying the data that is stored in these databases.
If you're a SQL Server DBA or developer, you might ask... why do I need this tool when I have SSMS? Let's list a few reasons.
You are a Linux or MAC person
You need to connect and work within 2019 Big Data Clusters
You need something more lightweight than SSMS
More easily work with JSON, XML, or Excel files
Integrated terminal. You can run command line tools such as Bash, PowerShell... etc.
You're a developer
With Azure Data Studio, you can easily to develop your database components and view/modify the data in the database tables. It allows you to run T-SQL queries, review, edit, and export the result to different useful formats, such as CSV, Excel, XML, and JSON, that can be processed by your applications or to be imported by another database engine.
